Laurel Nakadate - Only the Lonely
The other day I visited MoMA PS1 and saw Laurel Nakadate's Only the Lonely exhibit, which consists of photographs, videos, and feature-length films made over the last ten years. Her latest photographic series, entitled 365 Days: A Catalogue of Tears, made its premiere in the exhibit and documents the photographer weeping daily for a year, beginning January 1, 2010.
I can't say that I fully understood Nakadate's inspiration and point of view but the exhibit clearly touches on "voyeurism, loneliness, the manipulative power of the camera, and the urge to connect with others, through, within, and apart from technology and the media." The entire third floor of the museum was dedicated to Only the Lonely.
Montréal
I visited Montréal a couple of weeks ago, and these are two of my favorite photos I took there.
